Thank you for visiting the Athens Neighborhood Health Center website and for taking the time to learn more about who we are and why we exist. Athens Neighborhood Health Center (ANHC) is firmly rooted in the community we serve, and every day we strive to honor the mission set forth by our founders: to provide high-quality healthcare to all individuals in Athens-Clarke County and the surrounding areas.
At ANHC, our patients are at the center of everything we do. We are proud to offer a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for both existing and new patients who seek comprehensive primary health care services. The trust our community places in us is not taken lightly. Our patients are the pillars that make our work possible, and we are deeply grateful for their continued confidence and support.
As community needs evolve, so does ANHC. We continue to expand our facilities and services to ensure accessible, coordinated care across multiple locations. These efforts include our McKinley Drive location, offering Medical, Dental, Behavioral Health, Podiatry, and Pharmacy services; our College Avenue location, providing Medical, Pediatric, and Pharmacy care; the Hilsman Health Center, a school-based clinic delivering Medical and Dental services; and our newest initiative—the development of ANHC’s Mobile Health Unit, bringing Medical and Dental care directly into the community. Together, these services reflect our shared commitment to empowering the health and well-being of Athens-Clarke County.
While many of these services and expansions have been implemented in recent years, the vision behind comprehensive, compassionate primary care at ANHC began much more simply—around a kitchen table. In 1971, four women, including one who became a county commissioner, recognized that many residents avoided medical care not because they did not need it, but because they did not feel comfortable seeking it. With the support of community members and elected officials, Athens Neighborhood Health Center was born. Their belief in quality, affordable health care delivered in a comfortable and dignified setting continues to guide us today.
More than five decades later, ANHC’s facilities serve as a trusted medical home for thousands of individuals and families across Athens-Clarke County and neighboring communities. We remain honored to walk alongside our patients through every stage of life and health.
We invite all community residents to consider Athens Neighborhood Health Center as your medical home. It is a privilege to serve you, and we remain committed to growing, listening, and caring—together with the community that makes ANHC possible.
